🏠Going solar for a New Build Home (or a Home without consumption)

When creating the customer's consumption profile, if the house is very new and does not have utility bills, the calculation can be done in the upper right section of the consumption profile under the "Square Footage" section. Here, you will enter the home's information, and Enerflo will automatically calculate the consumption profile.

How to get the energy usage from the utility?

To get the usage from the utility, you can:

1) Check the usage for the last 12 months on the utility bill:

  • To use this option effectively, it is important to read the usage graphs on the bill accurately.
  • Please refer to the following section for some examples 🌍How should I read an electric bill?”

2) Review the usage for the last few months on the utility bill:

  • This option can only be used if the client does not have enough historical usage on the bill.
  • Please keep in mind that, in these cases, our operations team will verify the system size in accordance with the New Size System Home policies.

3) Access the online portal of the utility company with the client:

  • Upon having access to the utility company's portal, you can download the complete bill to obtain accurate usage information.
  • You can do this by logging in with the client's information or requesting it to assist in obtaining the bill.
  • Usually, access is granted using the registered email and password with the utility company.
  • If the password is forgotten, it can be recovered through the email or a code sent to the client via SMS, although this process may vary depending on the utility company.

4) Call the utility company with the client to get the energy usage.

  • This method can provide an accurate reading of the last 12 months of KWh usage. While you can use this method to request a solar design, please note that obtaining a copy of an electric bill is still necessary for our operations team to run the project effectively.
💡
The best practice for creating a proposal is to have the historical consumption for the last 12 months; however, this is not always possible, especially considering that they might be new home. The goal is always to create a proposal that covers consumption needs as accurately as possible, so that the customer feels satisfied with their system.

What types of projects do we work on at Equity Solar?

Minimum Size System:

The minimum system size is 4.5 kW. For system sizes smaller than 7KW, an adder is included automatically in the proposal. Please refer to the adders section in this sheet.

New Solar:

This is a project for a house that is new to the use of solar energy. It can be in any of the types of houses mentioned in the previous section.

New Solar + battery

This is a project for a house that is new to the use of solar energy. It can be in any of the types of houses mentioned in the previous section. This project includes backup batteries. In this case, the Solar Representative must consider this:

  • Enphase Storage sales training Certificate of Completion must be presented and uploaded on Scoop by the Sales Representative.
  • The battery must be included in the project, according to the financing method: Loan, Lease, Cash.

Solar System Upgrade

This project involves a home that already has a solar energy system. The customer wants to add more panels to their system either due to insufficient production or to maximize benefits from net metering. For projects of this nature, the solar representative must consider the following requirements:

  • COC inspection and plans of the previous solar system should be approved and must be up-loaded as evidenced on Scoop by the Solar Representative.
  • Required permit specialist assistance.
  • Previous Solar System should be interconnected and working, look for evidence as a customer confirmation call. The PTO for the previous solar system must be approved. In case it is not, it is required to submit the interconnection request of the old system first and then the interconnection of the addition.
